ABOUT EAST JEFFERSON FIRE RESCUE

East Jefferson Fire Rescue is located on the eastern side of the Olympic Peninsula in Western Washington State. In 2004 several small area departments consolidated to create our current larger and growing organization.

East Jefferson Fire Rescue includes 28 paid staff, 40 volunteers and six residents. Equipped with six engines, four tenders, seven ambulances, two utility vehicles, two brush trucks and five staff vehicles, the department responded to 3,079 calls in 2007. As of April 30, 2008, EJFR has responded to 1,027 calls.

We respond to a wide variety of emergencies ranging from Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support medical calls to multiple vehicle accidents and commercial structure fires.  In late 2007, the District entered into a contract with Jefferson General Hospital to transport patients from that facility to Bremerton, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia and Everett, Washington hospitals. The District averages approximately 30-40 transfers per month.

EJFR also operates a rescue boat that responds to water emergencies. Please see the sidebar to the left for more information about training and resources.
