Training happens on a daily basis at EJFR. Our career staff train every shift. Weekend and evening classes are frequently offered for our volunteer staff. One of our stations serves as our main training facility which is where our training officer, Deputy Chief Krysinski, supervises our progam. .
Since most of our members are at least EMT-B's, medical training is a high priority. An EMT class is offered every year through our department and Peninsula College. Our EMT's and Paramedics have opportunities to learn from our local physicians with recent class subjects ranging from scuba diving medical emergencies to pandemic influenza. We also receive training through the Medic 1 program at the University of Washington and Harborview Hospital in Seattle.
Every year EJFR holds a large training burn to give our members live fire training. We often have the opportunity to train in the house to be burned weeks ahead of the actual fire. Search and rescue drills, ladder rescue drills, and practice breaching interior walls gives our firefighters valuable "real house" experience.
