Join Our Team

East Jefferson Fire Rescue is a combination career and volunteer department. We have over 60 diverse members who serve our community in many roles.  We offer many ways to join our department.

Our resident program gives aspiring firefighters a chance to combine an Associates Degree with on-the job training.  After completing a fire academy and EMT class, our residents receive a monthly stipend and work full shifts with our career staff.  Residents can apply for apprentice positions which are two year part paid temporary jobs.  Our apprentices, residents and volunteers are invited to apply for full-time positions when they open.  Call 360 385-2626 or contact Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington for more information on the resident program.

Another way to join our department is as a volunteer.  EJFR has had a strong tradition of volunteer service for well over 100 years.  Not all our volunteers choose to fight fire and help on medical calls.  We also have places for public educators who teach subjects ranging from fire safety to slip and fall prevention.  If you'd like to volunteer your time, learn some new skills and help your community click here:  Copy_of_Volunteer_Application.pdf.  If you'd like to speak to someone about volunteer opportunities call our Public Education Specialist at 360 344-4609.

Mail or hand deliver your completed appllication to East Jefferson Fire Rescue, 1256 Lawrence St., Port Townsend, WA 98368
