Join our Team

East Jefferson Fire Rescue is a combination career and volunteer department.  We have many diverse members who serve our community in many roles.   EJFR requires that volunteers and resident volunteers live in Jefferson County and are able to show proof at time of application.

If you'd like to volunteer your time, learn some new skills and help your community, we welcome your interest in our organization.  We hold a testing process periodically. Continue to check this website for future test dates.

      Residents

EJFR's resident program gives aspiring firefighters a chance get on-the job training.  After completing a fire academy and EMT class, our residents receive a monthly stipend and work full shifts with our career staff.

Residents and volunteers are invited  to apply for full-time positions when they open.  Call 360 385-2626 for more information about this program.

Volunteers

Another way to join our department is as a volunteer.  EJFR has had a strong tradition of volunteer service for well over 100 years.  Not all our volunteers choose to fight fire and help on medical calls.  We also have places for public educators who teach subjects ranging from fire safety to slip and fall prevention.   If you'd like to speak to someone about volunteer opportunities call our Public Education Specialist at 360 344-4609.
